USFans review

No score out of ten. What can actually go wrong, which parts of it you control, and a test you can run in an afternoon from your own address.

Our conflict, stated first. This site earns a commission if you register through our link. That is why there is no rating here — a score from somebody paid on signups is worth nothing. What follows is the risk list instead.

What you are actually trusting

A shopping agent buys your item in China, holds it, and posts it to you. For a period measured in weeks they hold both your money and your goods. That is the trust, it is identical at every agent in this space, and none of them is a regulated escrow. Anybody telling you an agent is “100% safe” is guessing or being paid to say it.

What exists instead of a guarantee is evidence: whether a service has run at volume, for how long, with a warehouse that photographs and support that answers. That is reasonable evidence. It is not a promise.

What can go wrong, and who controls it

RiskWhat it really isControl
The agent fails while holding your balanceThe one that would genuinely hurt. Every agent holds your money between the item payment and the freight payment, and none of them is a regulated escrow. Keeping the balance small and the cycle short is the whole mitigation, and it works with any agent.Yours
The seller sends the wrong itemCommon, and solved by the process rather than by the agent — you see it in the QC photos while the item is still in China, and raise it before shipping.Yours, if you look
A freight quote you did not expectThe most common complaint and not a fault: it is quoted before you pay. Quoting a realistic parcel early removes it entirely.Yours
A customs bill you did not expectThe North American version of the same mistake, and the reason this site has two pages about borders. The agent does not set it, cannot predict it and does not insure against it.Yours, by looking it up
The parcel is held or seizedOutside the agent's control and outside ours. It depends on your country, the declared contents and the line.Neither
Support is slow when something is wrongThe thing you will care about exactly once, and the only axis where agents genuinely differ in a way you can test before spending anything.Testable

The test, in an afternoon

Six steps, none of which costs anything until the last. It works on any agent, which is rather the point.

  1. Register. Free, an email address, no card.
  2. Build a realistic parcel — three or four items, one of them bulky.
  3. Submit it and read every shipping quote to your own address. Pay none of them.
  4. Add your own border: the current position, plus the carrier's brokerage fee.
  5. Ask support a specific pre-sales question in live chat and time the reply.
  6. Put one cheap item all the way through before trusting anyone with a haul.

Four rules that work with any agent

  1. Keep the balance small. Top up for the order in front of you.
  2. Keep the cycle short. Order, check the photos, ship.
  3. Start small. One cheap item through the whole process teaches you more than any review, this one included.
  4. Pay in a way you can dispute. General practice for anything bought from abroad.

What no agent covers

The item being poor. The item not matching a brand. Your duty, your tax, your brokerage, a seizure, your country's law. They say so in their terms and they mean it — and this site does not sell, make, import or stock anything either.

If you want the numbers version, it is the landed cost page. If you want the comparison, it is USFans against Kakobuy.

Questions

Is USFans a scam?

There is no evidence that it is, and it is one of the agents this community uses at volume. That is the honest limit of what anybody can tell you — it is a judgement about a company, not a fact. We are paid a commission on signups, which is exactly why this page lists risks instead of awarding a score.

Why is there no rating out of ten?

Because it would be worth nothing coming from us and you would be right to ignore it. A list of what can go wrong and who controls each item is useful whoever wrote it.

Is it a better choice from North America specifically?

That is a question about shipping lines into your country rather than about the company, and the answer changes by month. The method to settle it is the test above: quote the same parcel at two agents to your own address, and compare landed rather than listed.

Is it safe to leave money in the balance?

Leave as little as the next order needs. Standard advice for every shopping agent and not an accusation against any one of them: an unspent balance is an unsecured loan to a company in another jurisdiction.

Why should I believe a site that earns commission?

Do not take it on faith. The disclosure is at the foot of every page, the risks are listed rather than hidden, and the test works regardless of what we write. Read the agent's own terms, search the community for recent experiences, and keep your balance small.

If you decide to try it

One cheap item, all the way through, including the border. It is the only review that is actually about you.
